USA: Coca-Cola to discontinue Minute Maid frozen range

Coca-Cola, the US-based beverage giant, has announced plans to discontinue its Minute Maid frozen juice concentrate range in the USA and Canada. The move, which marks the end of an 80-year product line, will see the company exit the frozen can category entirely by the first quarter of 2026.

According to a spokesperson for the company, the decision was made in response to shifting consumer preferences as demand for frozen concentrates continues to decline in favour of ready-to-drink (RTD) and refrigerated options. The discontinuation affects several varieties under the Minute Maid brand, including orange juice, lemonade and limeade, as well as related lines such as Fruitopia and Five Alive in the Canadian market.

Commenting on the strategy, a Coca-Cola spokesperson said: “We are discontinuing our frozen products and exiting the frozen can category in response to shifting consumer preferences. With the juice category growing strongly, we’re focusing on products that better match what our consumers want”.

The shift reflects a broader portfolio streamlining effort by the company, which has increasingly prioritised high-growth and premium segments. This includes a greater focus on zero-sugar beverages and its Fairlife ultra-filtered milk brand, which recently saw a significant investment in its manufacturing footprint. Retailers are expected to carry remaining inventory of the frozen canisters until April 2026.
