Campbell’s Soup has announced plans to close its snacks manufacturing facility in Hyannis (MA), and consolidate production of its Cape Cod and Kettle Brand crisps at other US sites.
The closure, scheduled to conclude by April, will impact 49 employees. The Hyannis plant, which has been in operation since 1985, currently produces approximately 4% of the Cape Cod brand’s total volume. According to the company, the site “no longer makes economic sense” for the business. Production will be shifted to existing facilities in Beloit (WI), Charlotte (NC), and Hanover (PA).
Elizabeth Duggan, president of Campbell’s Snacks, commented: “This difficult decision reflects a careful assessment of our business needs to strengthen our operations and position our snacks business for long-term growth. We are deeply grateful to our team and are committed to provide support and assistance during these changes”.
The company confirmed it will provide separation benefits and job placement support to affected workers. The Hyannis facility will be sold following the closure.
The move comes as Campbell’s Soup reported a 2% year-on-year decline in snacks sales to $1.01 billion for the quarter ending 2nd November 2025, driven by lower volumes for brands including Cape Cod and Goldfish.
