Mars, the global food and confectionery giant, has announced a £190 million ($245 million) investment to upgrade its historic manufacturing facility in Slough, England.
According to a company statement, the multi-million pound programme is designed to modernise the site, which has been operational for over 90 years. The investment will fund a new state-of-the-art logistics centre, enhanced production lines for the company’s core chocolate portfolio, and sustainable infrastructure developments. A key focus of the upgrade includes the deployment of advanced packaging equipment to reduce plastic waste across its confectionery brands.
Adam Grant, general manager Mars Snacking UKI, said: “This investment reflects our confidence in the UK as a hub to manufacture and innovate. In taking a long-term view, we are ensuring our operations remain world-class, competitive and fit for the future”.
“Our Slough factory is deeply rooted in our heritage, and as a proud family-owned business, we are committed to investing in a future that creates lasting, positive impact for the communities in which we operate”.
The Slough plant, which serves as a major production hub for the European market, manufactures household confectionery brands including Mars, Snickers and Maltesers.
