Fazer, the Finnish food and confectionery company, has agreed to acquire Aroma AB, a Swedish confectionery manufacturer specialising in the pick & mix segment.
The acquisition is intended to strengthen Fazer’s position in the Swedish confectionery market across packed candy, seasonal products, and pick & mix. Aroma, which was founded in 1921, operates three production sites in Stockholm, Eskilstuna, and Bengtsfors, and employs approximately 100 people. The company’s portfolio features classic Swedish brands such as Roda Hjartan, Gelehallon, Hallonbatar, and Graddkola.
Christoph Vitzthum, President and CEO of Fazer Group, commented: “This acquisition supports our international growth strategy in confectionery and strengthens our position in the Nordic pick & mix market as well as our overall position in Sweden”.
Aroma’s current owner, Anders Landelius, stated that Fazer’s reputation for quality and sincerity were key factors in the sale. Fazer, which already owns brands including Karl Fazer and Dumle, continues to seek international growth through both organic expansion and targeted acquisitions. The transaction remains subject to approval by the Swedish Competition Authority and the Inspectorate of strategic products.
