Agora, the Spanish brewing group, is launching what it claims is the world’s first probiotic beer under its Ambar brand. The new functional beverage, Ambar Triple Zero Probiotica, is a non-alcoholic beer that contains zero sugar and is reportedly produced with zero net carbon emissions.
Developed following seven years of research in collaboration with the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the drink contains the probiotic strain Bifidobacterium lactis CECT 8145. According to the company, the beer is designed to meet increasing consumer demand for health and wellness products.
Enrique Torguet, Ambar director of communications and institutional relations, stated: “With this launch, we are not only responding to the growing demand for healthier options but also inaugurating a new category within the brewing industry”.
The product is the latest addition to the Ambar Triple Zero range, which focuses on sustainability. Agora has a history of innovation in the category, having introduced the first alcohol-free beer to the Spanish market in 1976.
