Nestle, the Swiss food and beverage giant, has announced the launch of a new cocoa-free product line under its Choco Crossies brand in Germany. Developed in partnership with the German food-tech startup Planet A Foods, the Snack Vibes range utilizes a chocolate alternative made entirely without cocoa.

Scheduled for an April 2026 release, the line features ChoViva, an ingredient produced from fermented and roasted sunflower seeds combined with plant-based fats, grape seed flour, and sugar. The snacks are composed of 74% ChoViva and 26% cornflakes. This innovation responds to the volatile global cocoa market, where prices surged to over $11,900 per metric tonne in late 2024.

The new range is specifically targeted at Gen Z consumers and will be available in 100g snack bags in three varieties: Classic, Hazelnut and Salted Popcorn Caramel Taste. The products will retail at a recommended price of €2.79 ($2.95).

Marc Nussbaumer, business executive officer for confectionery at Nestle Germany, stated: “This is a generation navigating constant digital noise, looking for small ways to hit the reset button. We developed these new varieties specifically for those moments – creating a snack that engages the senses and offers a brief, personal chill-out vibe”.

The new range will be priced at €2.79 ($2.95) for a 100g pack. Nestle has previously invested in its Hamburg facility, where Choco Crossies are manufactured, to modernise production and support product diversity.
