Grupo Apex, the Spanish snacks manufacturer, has acquired Industrias Marjo, a Zaragoza-based distributor with a 50-year history and a leading operator in Spain’s impulse channel.
According to the company, the acquisition aims to bring Grupo Apex’s brands closer to points of sale, improve customer service and expand into new sectors such as collective catering, organized catering, leisure, transport and online retail. Industrias Marjo operates a commercial network across northern and central Spain, a central warehouse within the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (PLAZA), and an assortment of approximately 4,000 items serving more than 12,000 points of sale, alongside national service for petrol stations and tobacconists.
Industrias Marjo will retain its team and operating methods while expanding its offerings under the group’s backing. Santiago Sala, CEO of Grupo Apex, stated: “The incorporation of Marjo is a decisive step in our commitment to the impulse channel. It allows us to be closer to the point of sale, provide better service to our customers and offer the market a more complete distribution solution, always hand in hand with our network of distributors, which continues to be the axis of our model”.
