Huercasa, the Spanish plant-based food manufacturer, has opened a new processing factory in Sanchonuno, Segovia, following an investment of €25 million ($26 million).
The development creates the largest sweet corn-on-the-cob processing plant in Europe, enabling the company to process up to 500 tonnes of sweet corn daily. The modernised facility will boost production capacity by nearly 50%, supporting exports to more than 40 countries. In 2025, Huercasa achieved turnover exceeding €68 million ($71 million).
Manuel Moracho, managing director of Huercasa, stated that the company works “for a growing number of people who want to look after themselves with healthy vegetable products”. Chairman Félix Moracho Fuertes added that the investment represents “a decisive commitment to our land, with a dedication to internationalisation”.
The project will also increase local sourcing of crops from Castilla y Lepn, enhancing supply chain sustainability and creating employment in rural areas.
