UK Unilever sells Colombia, Ecuador Home Care business to Alicorp

Europe, Household Care

Unilever, the global consumer goods giant, has announced an agreement to sell its Home Care business in Colombia and Ecuador to Alicorp, the Peruvian consumer goods company.

The transaction includes a portfolio of well-established local laundry and cleaning brands such as Fab, 3D, Aromatel and Deja. The deal aligns with Unilever’s strategy to “sharpen its portfolio” by focusing on core categories with higher growth potential. For Alicorp, the acquisition significantly strengthens its foothold in the Andean region, adding to its existing home care operations which already include brands like Bolivar and Opal.

Reginaldo Ecclissato, president of Unilever Markets, commented: “These brands have a long-standing heritage and play a meaningful role in the daily lives of consumers across Colombia and Ecuador. While this was a thoughtful decision, it aligns with our ambition to sharpen our portfolio […] Alicorp is a respected regional player with strong capabilities in Home Care, and we are confident that under their stewardship these brands and operations will continue to thrive”.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
