PepsiCo, the US-based food and drink business, has announced plans to close its Frito-Lay plant and onsite warehouse operations in Orlando (FL).
“PepsiCo Foods US announced the shutdown of manufacturing and warehouse operations at our Orlando plant. This action was driven by business needs, and we are committed to treating every impacted employee with care—providing transition assistance, career support, and pay and benefits during this time”, PepsiCo is quoted as saying.
The site is scheduled to close by May 2026, reportedly affecting over 400 employees.
The move follows PepsiCo’s decision to close two other US snack plants this year – the PopCorners manufacturing facility in Liberty (NY) and a Frito-Lay plant in Rancho Cucamonga (CA). This is despite the company’s recent moves to expand manufacturing elsewhere around the globe, including upgrades to a crisp plant in South Africa and a new Quaker oats plant in China.
