Nestle, the Swiss consumer goods giant, has announced an investment of €30 million (£25.4 million) to increase capacity for hot cereal drinks production at its Avanca factory in Portugal.
The investment will be used to install advanced machinery to improve operational efficiency and help meet the growing demand for nutritious beverages.
The Avanca plant, situated in the north-eastern region of Portugal, is decribed as Nestle’s sole cereal drinks production site in Europe, manufacturing coffee subsititues such as Tofina , Bolero (both made from chicory) and Pensal (made from barley), as well as Mokambo (a coffee and cereal blend). The plant exports 70% of its production to the rest of Europe, Latin America, and Asia, especially Japan.
In Portugal. Nestle operates two factories and a national distribution centre, with a total workforce of roughly 2,500 across the country.
