Riviana Foods, a leading US rice and pasta firm, has announced it has expanded its production capacity for microwaveable rice products under the Minute rice brand via a $27 million investment.
The firm, which claims to be the largest processor, marketer and distributor of branded and private label rice products in the US, said the investment would double current operational output, adding that it was the second time in three years that it had implemented a significant capital project to improve its ready-to-serve production capabilities at its 400,000 sq ft processing and packaging plant.
Enrique Zaragoza, Riviana Foods senior vice president and chief operating officer, said the move was driven by continued increased demand for its ready to serve products. “We will be in a stronger position to meet or exceed customer needs for the product”, he said. “Just as important, this investment confirms our commitment as a partner with our employees and the Memphis business community”.
