US firm Ripple Foods is launching a line of “nutritious plant-based milk” based on the yellow pea, according to media reports.
Ripple Plant-Based Milk is offered in the varieties Original, Original Unsweetened, Vanilla and Chocolate, with each 48 fl oz bottle claimed to contain 8g of protein per serving. Additionally promoted as containing DHA Omega-3, vitamin D and iron, as well as 50% more calcium and half the sugar of ordinary milk, Ripple “activates the release of hormones in the body that keep you feeling full between meals”, according to company information.
The drink is made by blending purified yellow pea protein isolate with water, sunflower oil and organic cane sugar, Food Navigator USA reports.
“Ripple Original is proof that smart choices can be delicious. Trade in thin, chalky nut milks for a plant-based alternative that’s actually rich, creamy and satisfying”, the company website advertises further.
Ripple Plant-Based Milk will hit shelves in the USA from 2nd May.
