PepsiCo has unveiled its latest release for the US snack market: a new sweet flavour for its Cheetos puffed corn snack.
The new limited edition Cheetos Sweetos are described as cinnamon sugar puffs that “take the spring snacking experience beyond chocolate bunnies and marshmallow candies, providing a fun twist to traditional treats”.
Commenting on the launch, vice president of brand marketing for Frito-Lay North America, said: “This is not a short-term strategy.. We are looking for growth outside of the cheese puff segment”.
The use of cinnamon sugar is not only related to taste but also to product identity and experience, according to the company. Klein added: “We believe the orange Cheetos dust that comes off on your fingers is an important part of the Cheetos eating experience — for some it’s the best part. Absolutely there will be a similar playful experience when eating Sweetos”.
Cheetos Sweetos will be available from mid-February in retail stores across the USA in 7-ounce bags, with an RRP of $3.49.
