Milestone Brands, a US spirits brand created in 2016, has announced the acquisition of the rights to the Naranja liqueur brand from Pura Vida Spirits.
Naranja is an orange liqueur described as having being distilled in Mexico since 1933. Milestone Brands said it intended to relaunch the brand in January 2018, with production to be handled by La Madrilena, a Mexican corporation and brand owner of Controy, original creators of the Mexican orange liqueur.
Commenting on the acquisition, Milestone Brands founder & CEO Eric Dopkins said: “As the tequila category continues to grow, we feel Naranja will play a significant role using a recipe and package that speak to the heritage of Mexico. We will be proud to spread the message that authentic margaritas must use ingredients from Mexico”.
The Naranja brand will join the existing Milestone Brands portfolio that includes Dulce Vida Tequila and American Born Moonshine.
