Meiji, the Japanese food and pharmaceutical firm, has announced an investment of $28 million to expand production at its Santa Ana facility, which produces Hello Panda, Yan Yan and Chocorooms biscuits.
Founded in 1987, Hello Panda is known for its chocolate cream filling and the panda design on the biscuit shell. In October, Meiji America also launched Hello Panda Pretzel, a new product that combines pretzels with chocolate cream. The brand has been manufactured in the US since 2015.
“As the biscuit market is expected to continue to expand, we aim to further establish ourselves as a global brand by strengthening our production system and expanding our sales area,” a Meiji spokesperson said. “By utilizing the biscuit manufacturing technology and know-how we have cultivated in various countries, we will deliver our products to more customers”.
