Mars is continuing its programme of expansion at its manufacturing sites by investing an additional $100 million in a new 90,000-square foot chocolate facility in Topeka, Kansas, USA, to meet increasing demand.
The move follows recent expansion by the company both in the US and overseas, including at the Wrigley facility in Flowery Branch, Georgia and the Mars Chocolate North America site in Albany, Georgia. In addition, Mars recently announced the installation of an M&Ms line at a production site near Moscow in Russia.
“Our consumers and retailers are demanding even greater choice, seeking more product variety across a range of format, calorie and price options”, said Tracey Massey, President of Mars Chocolate North America. “By further growing our footprint in the U.S., we will better be able to introduce new treats to satisfy the most diverse consumer appetites”.
The investment takes Mars’s total commitment in Topeka to $430 million.
