ITG Brands, a subsidiary of global tobacco and nicotine business Imperial Brands, has announced the acquisition of a nicotine pouch range from Canadian manufacturer TJP Labs to aid its entry into the modern US oral market.
In a statement, ITG Brands, which currently produces a range of cigarettes, cigars and vapour products, said it had acquired a 14-strong range that has performed well in consumer testing. Imperial Brands currently offers oral products in some European countries under the Zone X and Skruf brands.
Stefan Bomhard, group CEO of Imperial Brands, said: “Today’s transaction is aligned to our focused, challenger approach in next generation products and to our disciplined capital allocation framework. While it will take time to build our presence in this category, the proposition we are acquiring is clearly differentiated within the US market and has tested strongly with consumers”.
David Richmond-Peck, CEO of TJP Labs, added: “Imperial has extensive brand development, marketing and sales execution capabilities in the US and a long global track record of operating responsibly”.
ITG Brands is planning to release the line of nicotine pouches under a new brand in 2024.
