Kraft Heinz, the leading US food and drinks firm, has announced a health-oriented makeover for its flagship Heinz ketchup brand, with the introduction of a new variety that contains added vegetables.
Marketed as “miraculously offer[ing] the veggies parents love, without compromising the thick and rich HEINZ taste kids love”, Heinz Tomato Ketchup with a Blend of Veggies is said to contain 25% added vegetables (butternut squash and carrot) and 25% less sugar than regular Heinz ketchup, as well as to be free from high-fructose corn syrup.
Commenting on the launch, Heinz brand associate director of marketing Dalia Adler said: “If we were going to add extra veggies to a new recipe, it was important to maintain the same distinctive taste, appearance and texture that have been loved by generations of families for 150 years. We went through countless recipes to land on the perfect blend and can’t wait to share the end result: a blend that we think will have your ketchup-loving, veggie-hating kids asking for more”.
Heinz Tomato Ketchup with a Blend of Veggies can be purchased in selected US retailers in 20oz and 31oz squeeze bottles.
