Domaine Select, a US-based importer of wine and spirits, has announced the acquisition of Atlantico, a rum brand originating from the Dominican Republic.
Founded in 2008, Atlantico is described as a super-premium rum brand that is available in the US and 12 international markets. As part of the deal, Domaine Select said it had taken over the day-to-day sales, marketing and operations associated with the import and export of the brand from the firm’s co-founders.
Commenting on the acquisition, Domaine Select founder Paolo Domeneghetti said: “We are strong believers in the super-premium rum category and have been closely following the success of Atlántico for some time. We are thrilled to bring on Atlántico as it fits beautifully within our portfolio of craft spirits, and we are excited to begin working with Atlántico’s international distribution network”.
