Natural foods firm Carrington Farms has announced the acquisition of Tera’swhey, the leading producer of organic whey protein in the US.
Madison, WI based Tera’swhey was founded in 2009 and produces USDA. certified organic whey protein made from grass-fed dairy cows. The company also offers rBGH-free whey protein and goat whey protein powder.
Announcing the move in a statement, the two firms described Tera’swhey’s products and approach as being “closely aligned with Carrington Farms’ real food philosophy”. The investment will allow Carrington Farms to expand its health and wellness category by adding protein powders to its portfolio, and by reaching new customers and channels, the firms added.
Carrington Farms chief executive officer David Eben said: “At Carrington Farms, we are always aiming to provide simple, clean and real products to our consumers and adding tera’swhey to our parent brand portfolio is a representation of our commitment to leading natural foods company”.
“Between the quality products and the respectable reputation the tera’swhey brand has already established, we could not be more excited to use our unique, innovative and prospective approach to really disrupt the protein powder and supplement category”, he added.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
