Dutch brewer Bavaria has acquired US based Latis Imports, an importer of Belgian specialty craft beers, according to a report in Brewbound.
Latis Imports, co-founded by David Van Wees, currently imports Boon, Palm, Rodenbach and Steenbrugge beers and is set to expand its portfolio to include Bavaria brands. Bavaria had previously purchased 60% of Palm Belgian Brewers earlier this year and plans to fully absorb the company by 2021.
The expansion into the US will allow Bavaria to increase its presence in what it call one of its “five key regions”.
Bavaria chief commercial officer Peer Swinkels said: “This acquisition allows us to further expand Bavaria’s presence in the U.S., a country with a strong beer culture and deep appreciation of specialty crafted beer […] We are excited about our growth opportunities and introducing new products to a thirsty U.S. audience under David’s continued leadership”.
