Arca Continental, described as Latin America’s second-largest Coca-Cola bottler, has announced the acquisition of US snacking firm Deep River Snacks for an undisclosed sum.
The Mexican firm, which also owns the Wise Snacks, Bokados and Inalecsa brands, said that by expanding its portfolio it would “capture both the conventional and growing better-for-you segment within the snack category”.
Deep River Snacks is said to be known for its colourful kettle-cooked potato chips as well as its Honchos seasoned tortilla chips. The firm distributes across the US and achieves sales of approximately $45 million per year.
Commenting on the move, Manuel L Barragan Morales, chairman of the board of directors of Arca Continental, said: “Consistent with Arca Continental’s profitable growth and long-term vision we continue to expand our investment in Complementary Businesses in the United States, hand in hand with a company that shares our core values and sense of social responsibility”.
