USA: 7-Eleven introduces bakery items targeting Hispanics

Multinational US based retail chain 7-Eleven has announced the launch a new line of bakery products for Hispanic consumers under the private label brand 7-Select.

According to a company press release, the line is being rolled out after being test marketed for a number of months in Texas and Mexico.

The line is comprised of three products: Mini Pound Cake (‘Panquecitos’), Cinnamon Rolls with Raisins (‘Roles de Canela con Pasas’) and Pound Cake with Pecans (‘Panque con Nuez’).

Commenting on the launch, Jack Stout, 7-Eleven senior vice president of private brands said: “Hispanics make up a significant and important part of 7-Eleven’s clientele. More than half live in the three states where 7-Eleven has a very strong and growing store presence – California, Florida and Texas. 7-Eleven tries to ensure that we offer products that our customers want to see on our shelves, conveniently and priced competitively”.

7-Select Mini Pound Cake is presented in a two-pack of 100g, while the Cinnamon Rolls are available in two-packs of 120g and the Pound Cake with Pecans is 275g. The two-packs have a retail price of $1.69 while the Pound Cake with Pecans retails for $2.59.
