Origin Wine has launched a new wine bottle design that separates into four individual “glasses” on opening.
Named Stormhoek Stack, the 750ml pack is claimed to be100% recyclable, lightweight and shatterproof. Stormhoek Stack, which is made with a technology called “StackTek”, comes as four 187ml stemless PET glasses that are said to look and feel like glass but are 50% lighter. The glasses have a foil closure and the stack is held together with a shrinksleeve.
Bernard Fontannaz, MD at Origin Wines, said: “We are delighted to launch the Stormhoek Stack to the UK market. The unique StackTek technology offers consumers the convenience of a non-breakable, single-serve glass of wine while retaining the elevated image of wine in a stylish glass”.
He added: “The Stormhoek Stack provides consumers with a practical, emotional and environmental benefit whilst enjoying their favourite wine wherever they choose and provides a unique point of difference at social occasions”.
Origin Wine was founded in 2002 and now exports more than 80 million litres of wine a year around the globe to countries including the UK, Russia, the Netherlands, Canada, Sweden, the USA, Denmark and Germany..
Stormhoek Stack Chardonnay is available at an RRP of £7.49 ($12.63).
