UK: Hero acquires The Gut Stuff

Hero, the Swiss food manufacturer, has acquired The Gut Stuff, a London-based business specialising in gut health snacks and soft drinks.

The Gut Stuff was launched in 2017 by Lisa and Alana Macfarlane to provide accessible information on the gut microbiome. The company’s portfolio includes a range of high-fibre fruit and nut bars, as well as drinks and digital resources such as an app and educational content.

Hero Group, which reported 2024 revenues of 1.25 billion CHF ($1.38 billion), stated that the acquisition aligns with its long-term strategy to focus on “better snacking”. The Swiss firm already maintains a significant UK presence through its ownership of Organix and the 2024 acquisition of the healthy snacking brand Deliciously Ella.

Christian Schierbaum, CEO of Hero Group, commented: “The acquisition of The Gut Stuff is a fantastic opportunity for us to grow as a Group and play in a small but growing trend in better snacking around gut health and fibre”.

The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
