The UK arm of French dairy multinational Danone is expanding into the smoothies category with the launch of Danone Activia Live Culture Smoothies.
The new no added sugar drinks are said to contain a mix of yoghurt, fruit and vegetables including live bacterial cultures, and to be a source of protein, calcium and fibre. An “orange” variety is described as blending mango, peach, carrot, date and linseed, while a “red” variety combines strawberry, blueberry, beetroot, pomegranate, persimmon and chia seeds.
Commenting on the launch, Danone’s Activia brand manger Ben Kind said: “We are continually adapting our range of fermented products to ensure that we are meeting evolving consumer demands. We know that younger consumers in particular want both nutrition and convenience – rather than having to choose between one or the other. Our live culture smoothies will launch in a convenient bottle format; ensuring that this delicious and nutritious product can be enjoyed on-the-go”.
Danone Activia Live Culture Smoothies are being launched in the UK in August with an RRP of £2.09 ($2.34) per bottle.
