Cereal Partners UK (CPUK), the Nestle and General Mills breakfast cereals joint venture, has announced plans to close its factory in Bromborough, UK with the loss of up to 300 jobs, ceasing production of private label cereals
According to sources, the company is planning to consolidate operations at its site in Staverton, Wiltshire, investing £74 million ($95 million) to expand branded product capacity.
CPUK&I said its factories were running below capacity due to a major decline in breakfast cereal sales.
“CPUK&I regrets the potential impact on employees and the immediate priority is to work together to review the proposals while supporting people through this process with care and sensitivity”, the company said, adding: “CPUK&I remains open to alternative solutions, including a potential sale of the Bromborough site and/or the supermarket branded cereal manufacturing itself”.
