Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company (CMBC) has announced plans to sell the Eagle Brewery to its long-term partner, S.A. Damm.
Damm is a Spanish brewer, best know for its premium beer Estrella Damm. Since 2010, the production of Estrella Damm for the UK has been packaged at the Eagle Brewery.
As part of the agreement, the Eagle Brewery’s beers will remain part of the CMBC’s portfolio, and it will become the first brewery that Damm owns outside the mainland in Europe.
“We are pleased to be able to share the news of our deal with our long-term partner Damm, building on our successful relationship to help ensure the brewery’s prosperity,” said Paul Davies, CEO, CMBC.
Demetrio Carceller Arce, Executive President, Damm, said: “This deal will strengthen our position in the UK market and help drive our brand in the UK, a key market for the company’s international growth”.
The sale is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
