The Swiss cooperative supermarket chain Migros and the Swiss rail network operator SBB are launching a new Click & Collect service for supermarket groceries, according to a report in 20 Minuten.
Under the scheme, which is due to start in September, SBB passengers will be able to shop online while on the train, choosing from a range of around 1000 products, and pick up the goods on arrival at their destination station. Migros will have the goods ready within half an hour of purchase, according to information.
In an initial nine-month testing phase, the service will be available at stations in Zurich, with the intention to subsequently extend the scheme to the rest of the country.
At the moment Migros already offers its Good Box service, where customers can pick up purchases in lockers at railway stations. According to 20 Minuten, Migros said it now expected to build on the success of the project with its half an hour delivery time promise.
