Blady Gros, the holding company behind fish processor Blady Tuna Market, has reached a deal to acquire a majority stake in Grupo Cerdeimar, a traditional fish cannery based in Spain’s Galicia region.
The deal reportedly comes after Grupo Cerdeimar, which traces its history back to 1884, found itself in financial difficulties earlier in the year.
According to articles in El Economista and Revista InfoRetail, Blady Tuna Market has achieved rapid sales growth by focusing on the development of tuna in pouches and is now one of Spain’s leading players in the segment, having generated revenues of €60 million ($65 million) in its 18 months of operation.
As a result of the deal, Cerdeimar will become Blady Industrias Cerdeimar. The combined business will have a workforce of around 260 staff and production facilities in both Valencia and Camarinas.
