Dr. Oetker, the leading food manufacturer, has announced its intention to acquire Galileo, a maker of frozen pizza snacks based in the German town of Trierweiler.
The company, which is already prominent in the pizza category with its Ristorante brand, said it would acquire Galileo’s production facility in Trierweiler and take over all its existing 200 employees.
Galileo produces pizzas, donuts, bagels, flat breads, and sweet baked goods and is represented in multiple European countries.
“We are looking forward to future cooperation under the Dr. Oetker umbrella,” commented Stefano La Vecchia, founder and CEO of Galileo. “Galileos’s business will not change. We will continue to be a reliable, high-performance and innovative partner for our customers”.
Galileo will continue to be run operationally as an independent company by the existing management, Dr. Oetker added.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
