Biscuit International, a leading player in the private label biscuit market in Europe, has expanded its business with the acquisition of Arluy, Spain’s fifth largest producer and distributor of biscuits.
A family-owned business, Arluy was founded in 1988 and markets a portfolio including Reglero, Rio, Zahor and B-live as well as the flagship Arluy brand. Based in the Rioja region, the company reportedly generated turnover last year of more than €40 million ($47 million).
Biscuit International also owns assets such as the biscuit makers Groupe Poult, Banketgroep, A&W Feinbackwaren and the UK supplier Northumbrian Fine Foods.
Commenting on the deal, Biscuit International CEO Giampaolo Schiratti said: “Arluy has strong experience in the production and distribution of sweet biscuits in Spain, and the company is an excellent complement to our group in terms of geography and product lines. This acquisition strengthens Biscuit International’s position as one of Europe’s leading producers of private label sweet biscuits in Europe and develops our partnership with our main European and Spanish customers”.
