According to the latest reports, Heineken is planning to expand its operations in Poland, a move which is expected to bring a wave of redundancies at existing locations in Scotland.
It is believed that about 100 employees, mainly those in financial departments in Edinburgh and Livingston, will be affected, although it is reported that some UK staff may also relocate to Poland. According to Heineken, the redundancies form part of a major restructuring process “to maintain competitiveness”.
Last year, Heineken launched a global financial services centre in Krakow and the company intends to consolidate its presence there.
“We are currently consulting on the impact of these changes with individuals, and considering their preferences for the future; including redeployment, relocation or early retirement,” a UK Heineken spokesman said.
