Maxima Grupe, a Lithuania based holding company that controls retail chains, has announced that it has started negotiations to acquire Polish retail chain Emperia.
According to the company, the investment would allow the group to further expand in Poland, where it is already present with the Aldik banner.
Petras Jašinskas, chairman of the board at Maxima Grupe, said: “Expansion in Poland by acquiring operating retail chain is a logical and consistent step that Maxima Grupe takes. We operate in this market since 2012 by owning retail chain Aldik. If negotiations were successful, Maxima Grupe would make a tender offer to acquire shares of Emperia Holding S.A. and all shareholders would be able to respond to it”.
Emperia owns the Polish chain Stokrotka, which operates 410 stores and has 20% market share in convenience channels.
