Heineken has announced that it has signed a binding agreement with the Slovenian brewer Pivovarna Lasko, to acquire 51.11% of the issued share capital.
The transaction, worth €114.3 million ($121.8 million), will help Heineken to strengthen its position in the European market due to Slovenia’s strategic location, the company said in a statement.
Jean-Francois van Boxmeer, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO of Heineken, commented: “This acquisition strengthens our position within the region and will bring two complementary strong local brands into our existing portfolio”.
Dušan Zorko, CEO of Pivovarna Lasko said, “The acquisition by HEINEKEN as a strategic investor allows Pivovarna Laško to continue building our historic local brands and to develop our position in regional export markets, as well as give an opportunity to better utilise our production capacities.
