Heineken, the Dutch beermaker, has announced an investment of €45 million ($47 million) to build the Dr. H.P. Heineken Centre, a global research & development centre in Zoeterwoude, Netherlands.
Named after Henry Pierre Heineken, a doctor of chemistry and first successor to Heineken founder Gerard Adriaan Heineken, the new facility will be 8,800 sqm in size and start operating by mid-2025. It will focus on improving products and processing and developing new products for global brands such as Heineken, Desperados and Amstel, playing a crucial role in Heineken’s innovation and growth strategy, the company said.
Dolf Van Den Brink, chairman of the executive board / CEO, commented: “This Centre opens new possibilities to optimize flavors and processes and to bring innovative products to market. This is a crucial milestone in realizing our Brew a Better World 2030 strategy, through which HEINEKEN raises the bar and enables faster progress towards a net zero, and a fairer, healthier world”.
“By choosing Zoeterwoude as location for the Dr. H.P. Heineken Centre, HEINEKEN underscores its commitment to the Netherlands and contributes to maintaining the Netherlands as a leader in food technology”, he added.
