De Kuyper, a Netherlands-based spirits producer, is acquiring the Heering liqueur brand from Danish firm Peter Heering, FoodBev reports.
The Heering lineup consists of a cherry and a coffee liqueur that are both promoted for their use in cocktails. Heering Cherry Liqueur has been produced since 1818, while Heering Coffee Liqueur was launched in 2007.
Advertised as “the original ‘cherry brandy’ “, Heering Cherry Liqueur is said to be available in over 100 countries, spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. It is promoted as being made with only natural ingredients, including Danish-grown cherries, and as being free from artificial additives.
Commenting on the acquisition, De Kuyper CEO Mark de Witte said: “We are very pleased to add this internationally recognised iconic and, as of next year, 200-year-old brand to our portfolio. De Kuyper initiated a business transformation two years ago and is continuously looking for premium brands to enhance its international portfolio. Cherry Heering is the global reference for a variety of classic cocktails and a great fit: fully in line with our company strategy and vision to ‘own the cocktail’. This acquisition will also drive our long-term sustainable growth. As a company with over 320 years of experience in the spirits market, we are proud to carry the Heering brand and all its extraordinary heritage into the future”.
