Nestle has opened its first KitKat store in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro neighbourhood, dedicated to the chocolate-coated wafer bars. The store features special versions of the product created in collaboration with Japanese chocolatier Takagi, some of which are unavailable elsewhere.
“KitKat is close to being a cult product in Japan, and it is a very special market for us,” said KitKat’s Global Brand Manager, Stewart Dryburgh. “I’m thrilled that this shop will allow us to showcase new KitKat premium products”.
The three special flavour creations are Sublime Bitter, Special Sakura Green Tea and Special Chilli. However consumers are also able to choose from a wide range of unusual flavours including Roasted Tea, Strawberry Cheesecake, Rum Raisin, Apple and Green Tea, Mandarin and Lemon, Purple Potato and Cinnamon Cookie.
All 500 Sublime Bitter chocolate bars sold out within two hours of the store opening on the 17th January, it is reported.
