Italian cheese manufacturer Sabelli has acquired a stake of 79% in mozzarella maker Trevisanalat, according to reports in ESM and Repubblica. The majority stake was purchased from the Alto Parnters private equity fund for an undisclosed amount.

Trevisanalat produces mozzarella in factories in Italy and Slovenia, marketing goods under brands such as Trevisanalat, Bianca Bella, Biancamore, Buonsapore, Campesina, Deiprai and ProntiBianchi Via. The company, which has annual turnover approaching €50 million ($54 million), also supplies private label brands for retailers such as Carrefour, Lidl and Auchan.

Sabelli manufactures and sells soft cheese products including mozzarella, mascarpone and ricotta, and in 2015 produced 14,000 tonnes. As a result of the deal, the firm will repoortedly become the third largest mozzarella cheese producer in Italy behind Galbani and Granarolo.
