Gourmet Italian Food, a diversified food manufacturer, has announced the acquisition of Firma Italia, an Italian producer of dried ready meals.
Firma Italia was founded in 1995 by Silvano and Mario Birolo and produces a wide range of ready meals, including pasta, risotto, soup, sauces and ethnic meals.
Gourmet Italian Food was founded in 2021 by Alcedo SGR and FVS SGR, combining the former’s Eurochef business and the latter’s La Gastronomica operations. Eurochef produces ready meals and holds an interest in Fabian Srl, producer of savoury snacks, whilst La Gastronomica produces fresh food.
Throught the deal, Gourmet Italian Food is entering the dried ready meals category and aiming to accelerate its internationalization process. The acquisition will reportedly enable the group to achieve turnover of over €130 million ($141 million) in 2023.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
