Royal Unibrew, the Danish brewing and beverage company, has signed an agreement to acquire non-alcoholic drinks firm Vrumona from Heineken in a deal worth €300 million ($315 million).
Vrumona is a Dutch soft drinks company with a brand range including Royal Club, Sisi, Sourcy, as well as being a bottler for partner brands such as 7 Up, Pepsi and Rivella. Vrumona’s seven production lines at its factory in Bunnik produce 3.1 million hectolitre annually.
Royal Unibrew said it planned to invest in Vrumona to grow its Dutch market presence and support global production.
Commenting on the acquisition, Royal Unibrew CEO Lars Jensen said: “We are happy to have signed an agreement with Heineken to acquire Vrumona. Vrumona is a leading soft drinks manufacturer, and it comes with a strong local organization, which makes it a strategic very strong fit for Royal Unibrew”.
“Vrumona will become a new growth platform for Royal Unibrew in continental Europe and is expected to drive organic earnings growth in the coming years”, he added.
The deal is expected to close in September or October this year, subject to regulatory approval.
