Ireland: Ornua to acquire FJ Need

Irish based dairy group Ornua has agreed to acquire FJ Need for an undisclosed amount .

British based FJ Need supplies Irish and British cheese and cheese ingredients to the food manufacturing and foodservice sectors. Ornua is considered Ireland’s largest exporter of Irish dairy products with brands such as Kerrygold, Beo Milk and Pilgrims choice. The firm said it had been investing in Africa, China, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the UK and the US in an effort to target new routes to market for Irish dairy products.

Ornua CEO Kevin Lane commented: “We are buying an excellent family dairy business which allows us to significantly strengthen our presence in the UK ingredients sector. The complementary nature of our customer bases and the potential to further scale the business makes this a strong fit for Ornua.”
