Wine and spirits multinational Pernod Ricard has announced plan to triple its revenue in India over the next decade by strengthening its position in the premium whisky market.
The strategy includes the launch of Royal Stag Double Dark Peaty Whisky and Blenders Pride Four Elements Premium Whisky, following release of Longitude 77, the company’s first “Indian Single Malt”.
Blenders Pride Four Elements Whisky is described as being blended from four styles of Scotch malts and Indian grain spirits, representing Air, Water, Fire, and Earth. Royal Stag Double Dark Peaty Whisky is said to features a distinct smoky taste, created through double-distilled Scotch malts matured in darkly charred barrels.
Commenting on the move, Pernod Ricard India chief marketing officer and head of global business development Kartik Mohindra said: “As one of Pernod Ricard group’s top three markets, India offers significant opportunities for growth and innovation. […] These product innovations are backed by extensive consumer research and Pernod Ricard India’s investment in Research and Development, allowing us to remain agile in the rapidly evolving market landscape”.
Royal Stag Double Dark is planned for launch in Maharashtra, Assam, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, with Blenders Pride Four Elements set to follow in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, Telangana, and Goa. The pan-India launch is expected to be completed by December 2024.
