Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Insight by Gama Compass™

MANCHESTER – 26th March 2015: Climatic features such as average summer temperature correlate with interesting variations in category distribution in the non-alcoholic drinks industry, the latest research from Gama Compass™ has revealed.

Based on data from the last 12 month period, Gama has found that new product activity in the fruit & vegetable drinks & juices is more prominent in countries with hot (>25°C) and cool (<19°C) average summer temperatures than in those with warm (19-25°C) temperatures: in the case of the latter, the fruit & vegetable drinks & juices market accounted for only 22% of new non-alcoholic drinks introductions, compared to a global average of 27%.

In these same ‘warm’ countries, however, coffee proved to be an active category, accounting for 17% of launches compared to a global average of 11%. In ‘cool’ countries, by contrast, carbonated soft drinks was the standout segment, accounting for 16% of launches compared to a global average of less than 12%.
