A new production facility manufacturing coffee capsules for the Nescafe Dolce Gusto range has opened its doors in Germany.
Based in Schwerin, the plant is described as being the result of a €200 million ($259 million) investment and has a production capacity of around 2 billion capsules per year. As such it is the largest and most advanced plant for the production of Nescafe Dolce Gusto capsules in Europe. It joins existing facilities located in Tutbury (UK) and Girona (Spain). In total, 450 new jobs are expected to be created.
Gerhard Berssenbrugge, head of Nestle in Germany, commented: “Germany is one of the most important markets for Nescafe Dolce Gusto. The new Nestle plant in Schwerin is ideally located within Europe to cater for markets in Germany, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe”.
