Muller, the German dairy giant, has announced the closure of two further factories that it acquired as part of its 2022 deal for the FrieslandCampina portfolio in Germany.
The Heilbronn and Schefflenz sites, which manufacture products for the Landliebe brand, will be gradually shut down by summer 2026, impacting around 400 employees.
In a statement, Muller blamed cost pressure, investment requirements and the “highly competitive” dairy category for the plant’s impending closure.
Commenting on the move, Cornelia Haiser, managing director for the Landliebe business, said: “A comprehensive economic analysis has shown that, under these conditions, the two production sites have no prospect of returning from the deep red to a profitable business in the long term. We will integrate the product portfolio into other German locations of the Group”.
