Unilever, the consumer goods giant, has announced it has signed an agreement to acquire the Fluocaril and Parogencyl oral care brands from P&G, the US FMCG multinational.
Fluocaril and Parogencyl are described as therapeutic brands sold in the pharmacy channel, mostly in the Spanish and French markets. Fluocaril offers oral care solutions specialising in protection against cavities, while Parogencyl tackles gum issues.
Unilever said the acquisition would give Unilever a leading position in oral care within the French pharmacy channel as well as strong positions in Spain.
“With their powerful brand heritage, high awareness and sound reputation amongst dentists, these brands are a great complement to Unilever’s existing oral care portfolio”, the company added in a statement.
Fluocaril and Parogencyl will add to Unilever’s global toothpaste portfolio that includes brands such as Close-Up, Signal and Mentadent.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
