Fazer, the leading Finnish food group, has announced it will be ceasing dairy production at the Koria factory in southern Finland by the end of August 2023, with 82 jobs expected to be affected.
Fazer noted it was only a small player in the highly-competitive Finnish dairy industry, mainly producing private label products, and that the changes were part of its strategy to focus on its core plant-based business.
“Efficiency improvements related to the supply chain will be made, which are inevitable to maintain the company’s competitiveness”, the company added in a statement.
“We will do our utmost to help our employees find new jobs and will support our personnel in several ways”, commented Kati Rajala, vice president of Fazer’s non-dairy & dairy business. “Vacancies in other Fazer Group units will be offered with priority to those employees whose employment will be terminated”.
