Salling Group, Denmark’s largest grocery chain, has announced the acquisition of 35 stores from Coop Denmark.
In a press release, the company said the deal included 25 365discount stores, as well as three and five under the Kvickly and SuperBrugsen banners respectively.
Anders Hagh, CEO of Salling Group, said: “We are proud of the purchase, which gives us the opportunity to reach even more Danes in areas and at addresses where we do not have a strong presence today. The deal is only possible because of the company’s healthy financial position that allows us to seize opportunities in the market as they arise.”.
Depending on the outcome of a review by Danish competition authorities, the Coop stores will be rebranded to either Fotex or Netto.
Details of the transaction were not disclosed.
